Making Money By Using Article Marketing To Promote Niche Websites
You know, it seems like niche market websites and article marketing were made to go together. In fact, this particualr Internet marketing technique is one of the most effective methods someone just starting an Internet business can use and works extremely well when promoting niche market websites!
Paradoxically, one of tne reasons for this synergistic relationship is the sheer size of the Internet.
No matter what you, the lonely, independent Internet marketer, might be trying to sell, there are a multitude of other people trying to sell the same thing. As if that’s not enough to deal with, most new Internet marketers do not have a lot of money to spend on advertising and website promotion. While free advertising resources, such as posting free classified ads or using free traffic exchanges can be very effective when done properly, most people trying to start an Internet business do not have the knowledge or expertise, or lack the training or mentoring, necessary to make these methods anywhere near as effective as article marketing.
Many of these new business owners, and many of the old business owners as well, are afraid to try article marketing because the thought of creating an article which they can then publish, and which might be re-published by others, seems to be quite daunting. However, it is definitely worth the time and effort expended to create at least a few small articles with which to pinpoint your business or website and, if you are one of those low on money, combine that with such traffic tools as free classified ads, forum signatures, and free traffic exchanges to create multiple streams of interest in your business…both from humans and from search engines.
As you can well understand, choosing a good “niche” subject to base your website around has to be one of the most important aspects of making money off of your articles, or any other advertising as far as that goes.
While choosing the right niche, selecting a pertinent domain name, and applying the principles are vitally important to your online success, selecting the right niche will give you a foundation to build from and you can target one general audience with a selection of articles built around keywords that they are most likely to be searching for. You should then tighten your aim a little with each article you create. Simply put, you do this by selecting one, or maybe two, keywords for each article. Of course, when you write the article, you will “pitch” it to the broad general audience of humans, but, at the same time, your selection of keywords will attract the attention of search engines as well.
Don’t overdo the keyword thing within the body of your article, however. Many article sites will reject an article if it has too many of the same keywords, and many other website owners will not pick it up if it seems to be written as a vehicle to carry keywords and does not genuinely provide general or specific information, i.e. “content”, of value to the readers. Note the word “content”. As you learn more about Internet marketing, you will find that you are seeking pages and websites with “content” which provides you with answers to your questions, and information of value to you.
If you do your article marketing right, someday, people will be seeking your websites and articles because of the valuable content they find there…NOT the products which you are trying to sell!
One note here, by the way, while posting your articles on article sites is certainly a valuable goal, particularly if those sites are high ranking ones, there is nothing that says that you cannot simply post these articles on your own site or blog.
However, how do you find out which keywords you should write about?
Well, there are many software programs whose main purpose is generating keywords, such as is found in the SEO Suite available from ApexPacific, and Google adwords has a keyword tool that can help you select keywords as well. If it happens that you are writing about a subject that you are familiar with, start with a basic keyword or two that you would search on and just brainstorm on your own a little. Another method is simply to search on a few keywords or phrases which are related to your website. Once you get the search engine results, go to the pages that show up, particularly the first few free pages, not the ones which paid to be shown, and look at their source code, using your “view source” feature, to view what keywords they have used, although many sites are now being created without a keyword META tag since many search engines actually draw the keywords directly from the site content.
Surprise! Actually writing the article is one of the easier tasks in the process.
Let’s pretend your website is about sports gear, and you specifically want to sell NASCAR related items. Well, assuming that you are interested in sports, and possibly NASCAR itself, since it is a good idea to pick a niche which you at least know something about, you could start simply by recounting a funny incident that recently happened at a NASCAR race you attended, saw on TV, or simply read about in Sports Illustrated. People love first person accounts, i.e. you telling a story. Hey! It’s a way to get started. Who knows? You might be the next Howard Cosell. The interesting thing about this process is that each new article tends to breed new ideas.
An important tip to remember is not to try to “sell” anything in your article.
Your Author Biography will do that for you.
Once you have provided your reader with useful information which could potentially save them time and money, or some pleasant entertainment, and shown them that you actually do care about them and their problems, they will be more receptive to visiting the link to your website which shows up in your Author Bio section. As you amass more articles, you will come to be viewed by some readers as an expert in your field, and this may result in other website owners automatically picking up your articles or readers simply keeping an eye out for what you have to say next.
How to get a little extra mileage out of your article.
Once you have written that first article and posted it on an article site, you will probably realize that you could have said some things a little differently or you left something out to keep it short. Perhaps it triggered an idea for another small article which you can whip out real fast. Well, you can take that new article and use it on your own blog or website. Or, you could simply re-write the article you just posted and pubulish the re-written article on your own site or blog or on another article site. As I mentioned above, writing one article often gets the artistic juices flowing and the act of writing one article triggers ideas for others.
